Mystery Fic #6

NOTES: Yayness! I always wanted to write a fanfic for this TV series, ever since I saw it. ^_^ Woo. The narrator is SO slashy (and yes, it is a guy).

---------

He saved my life. You don't forget a guy for something like that. Of course, I'm sure that the fact that he's kind, gorgeous, and all-around wonderful helped him stick in my mind a bit.

So maybe... maybe saving my life wasn't as big a deal to him as it is to me. He's saved other people's lives since then, and not always friends. But when I woke up and looked up into his face... let's just that I never believed in love at first sight until that moment.

It occurred to me sometime after the fact that he had given me CPR. I mean, I coughed up water when I woke up, and my first sensation was him pressing down on my chest, trying to get my heart to beat properly. But if he was giving me CPR, then that means that at some point he must have kissed me. Okay, so maybe it wasn't a *real* kiss, but close enough to make me blush when I think about it. And I DON'T blush. Still, it's really just typical. The one time he kisses me, and I'm unconscious.

It hurt me so much to give him that box, but I needed to repay him. He liked this girl, (still does, actually, and just as hopelessly) so I gave him something that could get them together. He bungled it somehow, if I remember. But when I handed him the box... oh, all I really wanted was to catch his hand, look in his eyes...

But I'm getting sentimental. That won't do. You know, the funny thing is, I'd settle for just being his friend. But he doesn't even really seem to want that. He's always rather... nervous around me, I guess. He's cool and brisk, which is more than I can say for his father. Both of them seem to have the same problem with gifts, though.

He was all set to give me that box back, too. Believe me, I wated nothing more than to snatch it back, though I had already made up my mind to let him have it. I even once entertained the thought of offering the necklace inside to him personally. I still remember the first time I saw him wearing it. He was nearly naked, drenched in sweat, with the simple necklace draped over his chest. He was in pain, surely, but so beautiful.

Ah, but it is all just a dream. I'm sure he'd never really be attracted to me. But hey, I can dream right? And oh, the dreams...
